Editing on your phone
The phone layout, opening tools in a sheet, one-tap clip actions, adding media, recording voice-overs and editing images on a phone.
The Studio Editor works on your phone, with the same project and the same tools as on a computer. Everything you change saves as you go, so you can start on one device and finish on another.
The phone layout is also used on tablets and narrow browser windows.
The layout
From top to bottom:
- The top bar: the back arrow, the project name, the save status (a coloured dot), Undo and Redo, ⋯ (canvas shape and platform guides), Export and Publish.
- The player.
- ⏮, play/pause, ⏭ and the time.
- The toolbar: Split, Delete, Duplicate, Snap, Remove ums and pauses, + Track and Zoom. Swipe it sideways to see them all.
- The timeline.
- A bar of tools: Media, Make, Text, Captions, Audio, Brand and Templates.
Undo and Redo are the curved arrows in the top bar. Tap ⋯ next to them for Canvas shape and Preview as (and, for an image, Make every size ▸).
Open a tool
Tap a tool in the bottom bar and it opens in a sheet that slides up. Close it with ✕, or tap outside it. Your changes are kept.
When you open the editor from an AI Studio tool, such as Auto captions or Add AI music, that tool's sheet opens for you.
Edit a clip
Tap a clip on the timeline or the picture. Its settings open in the sheet, starting with the most common actions, one tap each:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Split | Cuts the clip at the playhead. Move the playhead inside the clip first. |
| Speed | Opens the speed setting. |
| Crop | Opens the framing and crop settings. |
| Volume | Opens the clip's sound settings. |
| Filter | Opens the colour looks. |
| Rotate | Turns the picture a quarter turn per tap. |
| Replace | Swaps in a different video or photo and keeps the clip's look. |
| Delete | Removes the clip. |
Under these are Describe a change, every other setting and the AI tools, the same as on a computer. See Cutting and arranging clips and AI tools for video.
Tap text, a photo, a sound or captions to open their settings in the sheet.
Add media
Open Media and tap a video or photo to add it at the end of your video. To place one over the picture, like a logo or picture-in-picture, use + Overlay on its card. On a phone it's always shown in the card's top corner.
Record a voice-over
Voice-over recording works on your phone too. Open Audio, then Voice-over, and tap Record from the playhead. Allow the microphone when asked. See Sound.
The image editor on a phone
The picture is on top, Versions is under it, and the tools (Media, Text, Brand, Adjust, AI tools and Layers) are along the bottom. Each opens in a sheet. Tap a layer on the picture to open its settings. To copy or delete a layer, use Duplicate or Delete in its settings.
Make every size ▸ is under ⋯ in the top bar.
Publish
Publish and Export work the same as on a computer. See Publishing and exporting.
