Publishing and exporting
Make your edit a post or update the post it came from, follow the steps to posting, export to your Library, and what to do if a render fails.
When your edit is ready, you can publish it as a post, update the post it came from, or export the finished file to your Library. Making the finished video or image costs no credits.
Make it a post
Use this to turn your edit into a new post, then add captions and schedule it.
- Click Publish → in the top bar.
- In Publish this video, choose Make it a post.
- Click Continue →.
Your latest changes save first. Then you're taken to the new post, where a row of steps shows the way to posting:
- Render: your video is being made, usually in 1 to 5 minutes. It appears by itself, and you can write captions or schedule it for later meanwhile. Posting now unlocks when it's done.
- Post created.
- Captions and schedule: your turn. Click Write captions to write the caption for each platform, then Schedule or post to pick a time or post now.
- Scheduled, Posting or Posted: shows the time in your own time zone, then turns green when it's live.
Publishing doesn't post anywhere by itself. Nothing goes out until you schedule it or post it.
Posting now waits for the render. While the video is still rendering, Publish now on the post is greyed out, with a note beside it: "You can't post yet: your video is still rendering. It usually takes 1–5 minutes — this button turns on by itself when it's ready." (For an image it says "image" and "a few seconds".) Hover the ? next to it to see why. You don't need to reload: the button turns on by itself as soon as the video is ready.
Meanwhile you can still write captions and Schedule for later. A post scheduled for later waits for the video if it isn't ready yet: the top of the post says Waiting to post: your video is still exporting, and it goes out by itself as soon as the video is ready. If the video still isn't ready within 45 minutes of the time you picked, nothing is posted and the post tells you what to do next. A time within the next couple of minutes counts as posting now, so pick a time a few minutes ahead.
If the render fails, Publish now stays off and the note says so: open the project in the Editor and Publish or Export again. If it keeps failing, email support@vibeday.com.
Name your project (first time only)
The first time you publish or export a project that still has an automatic name (such as "IMG_4821 + 6 more" or "Untitled project"), a Name your project step follows Continue → / Render. Pick one of up to three suggestions made from what's said and shown in your video, or type your own. The step lists where the name is used: your Library card for the project, every export (the name, then · v2, · v3) and, when you publish, the post until you give it its own title. Your viewers never see it. Save name and publish (or Save name and export) saves it and carries on; Back returns to the choice. A project you've already named, or one started from a reel, goes straight through. Rename it any time in the editor's top bar or from the Library.
Update the post it came from
If you opened the video or image from a post, or it's a reel, you can replace that post's media instead of making a new post.
- Click Publish →.
- Choose Update the post it came from.
- Click Continue →.
The post keeps its current video until the new one is ready, so it's never left without one. For a post made in the editor, the steps on the post show Post updated. For a reel, the video panel shows the render and updates by itself.
Export to your Library
Use this to make the finished file without making a post, for example to download it or use it later.
- Open Export in the top bar and choose Video (MP4) to your Library.
- In Export this video, click Render.
- The top bar shows Rendering…, then a percentage. You can keep editing, or close the tab.
- When it's done, click Ready · Download to download the file. It's also in your Library.
Where it shows in your Library: if you opened the editor from one video or image in your Library, the finished file sits with it as a new version (open its versions badge). Anything else, such as a project you put together from several clips, a reel or a post, appears in your Library as its own item, named after the project. Export the same project again and the new file is numbered, for example My teaser · v2, so you can always tell your cuts apart; a failed export doesn't use up a number.
For an image, choose PNG (sharpest) or JPG (smaller file) and the size first. See The image editor.
Download captions
Open Export and choose Captions (SRT) to download your captions as a subtitle file for YouTube or another site. This is available once your video has captions.
How long it takes
While you're editing, a render server is kept ready for your project, so Publish and Export usually start within seconds. If you've just come back after a break, it can take 1 to 5 minutes, mostly while the server starts up. Longer videos take longer. Progress is shown in the top bar and on the post, and it survives a refresh.
If a render fails
You're told plainly, and nothing is charged.
- In the editor, the top bar shows Render failed. Hover it to see why, then Publish or Export again.
- On the post, the Render step turns red with the reason and Back to the Editor.
Common reasons:
- The render took too long, or failed on our side: publish again. If it keeps happening, email support@vibeday.com.
- Some media couldn't be found: replace or remove it, then publish again.
- Your latest changes didn't save: check your connection and try again.
Watermark
Your finished video follows your plan's watermark setting, like every video VibeDay makes.
